What does a wedding toastmaster do?

The people, the timings and the little details.

Your toastmaster acts as a host and a point of contact during the day. The exact duties depend on your plans and the coverage you book, but can include:

Welcoming and guiding guests: helping everyone find the ceremony, drinks reception and their seats for dinner.
Keeping suppliers in touch: coordinating with the venue, caterers, photographer and videographer before key moments.
Helping gather people: making announcements for confetti and group photographs so you can spend more time celebrating.
Introducing the wedding breakfast: calling guests to dine and giving you the entrance you have planned.
Supporting the speeches: confirming the running order, introducing speakers and checking the team is ready to capture the words.
Guiding the evening: helping coordinate the cake cutting and handover to your DJ or band, where included in your coverage.

You can choose the level of formality that suits you. Talk through whether you want traditional announcements or a more relaxed style of hosting, and agree how the toastmaster’s duties will fit alongside your venue coordinator.
