Planning wedding photographs at Burlton Manor

A restored barn in North Shropshire

Burlton Manor sits between Shrewsbury and Ellesmere in the village of Burlton. The restored red-brick barn dates to 1798, and the venue combines exclusive use with countryside grounds and on-site accommodation. Those settings provide a backdrop to the wedding, but the photographs should also capture the feeling of being there with the people closest to you.

Photographs around the barn and gardens

Evie and Josh’s gallery moves from the brick barn to portraits in the grounds, including the garden bridge. Different backgrounds can add variety without turning the reception into a lengthy photo session. We can select a short route that suits the light and the weather, keeping the photographs relaxed and the couple at the centre of the story.

Documenting the reception atmosphere

Speeches, reactions and conversations are an important part of a barn wedding gallery. I look for expressions across the tables as well as the person speaking, so you can see moments you may have missed on the day. The wider room photographs also preserve the styling and the way everyone came together in the space.

Planning groups without losing the reception

Agreeing the essential family photographs beforehand makes the day easier. A compact list, a suitable meeting point and a helper who knows the guests can keep this part moving. Once the groups are done, I return to documenting the celebration. If the evening light adds something different, we can decide whether a brief second portrait break is worthwhile.
